LegendaryHalal Biryani

Nothing is cooked ahead. Every service starts from a fresh pot, layered by hand, because the smell of biryani fades before the taste does. Delivered around Craigieburn, Greenvale, Mickleham and Roxburgh Park.

Orders close the day before. Want it Sunday, order by Saturday.

How it works

He cooks five services a week,
and only what has been ordered.

Biryani cannot be rushed and it does not survive being made two portions at a time. So orders come in the day before, the pot goes on for that service, and it goes out while it is still steaming. Nothing is cooked ahead and nothing is wasted.

01

Order the day before

Pick your service, Friday dinner or a weekend lunch or dinner. Orders close at the end of the day before delivery, and earlier is always fine.

02

He cooks that morning

Kababs go into their marinade a full day ahead. The rice is layered with saffron, fried onions and ghee, the lid goes on, and the pot does the rest.

03

It comes to your door

Delivered across Craigieburn, Greenvale, Mickleham and Roxburgh Park. Pay by card online, or cash when it arrives.

Fahad cooking Hyderabadi biryani in his Mickleham home kitchen
Our story

He is not building an empire. He wants to cook for his neighbours.

Fahad ran a restaurant in India. Then he traded a farmers market for a year, and sold out every time. Now he cooks from his own kitchen in Mickleham, from his grandmother’s recipes, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.

20c

Twenty cents from every order goes to the National Zakat Foundation. It is printed right on the lid.

The kitchen

You can ask him anything about it.

It is a home kitchen, registered and inspected, and he would rather tell you exactly what that means than leave you guessing.

Questions

Before you order

How far ahead do I need to order?

Orders close at the end of the day before delivery. If you want biryani on Sunday, order by Saturday. Earlier is always fine, and it helps, because everything is cooked to order.

Where do you deliver?

Craigieburn, Greenvale, Mickleham and Roxburgh Park. Delivery is $6, $8 or $10 depending on how far the drive is to your address, and the exact fee is shown before you pay.

Is the food halal?

Yes. Fahad uses halal meat, and there is no alcohol and no pork in the kitchen at all. The kitchen is registered with Hume City Council as a home caterer and he holds a Food Safety Supervisor qualification.

When do you cook?

Friday dinner, 6pm to 11pm. Saturday and Sunday, lunch 12pm to 3pm or dinner 6pm to 11pm. Nothing is cooked ahead, so each of those five services starts from a fresh pot.

What comes with a biryani?

Every biryani comes with raita, gravy and gulab jamun. Combos add kababs on top of that, and any combo comes with a free mango lassi.

Can I order for a party?

Yes. The 3kg biryanis and the 4 to 6 person combos are the party sizes, and larger orders are worth a phone call so Fahad can plan the cook.

How do I pay?

Card online, or cash when the food reaches your door.
